Ramerica
has been established in 1984 as a result of the
Koç Holding’s international strategic attempts
taken in 1980 regarding the expansion of the overseas
activities.
In 1985 the company designated the range of its
activities as following:
- Marketing and selling Turkish textile (Ready
to Wear Products) in the US market
- Exporting raw materials from US to Turkey;
- Trading between US and Europe;
- Serving in US for the sale of the other Turkish
products.
Ramerica, adding leather articles, oil, timber
and refrigerator to its marketing products, has
moved to its new office in Empire State Building
in 1987 and its revenue in US market reached to
$ 30 million.
Because of the slowdown of the imports depending
on recession in US and due to the decay in Turkish
relative competitive power, Ramerica exited from
the ready-to wear field by 1992 and continued
its trading activities in the new business fields.
Ramerica representing approximately 30 companies
in machinery, equipment, construction and food
fields in United States, has involved in marketing
operations in a wide scope and its revenue reached
to $ 4.5 million in 1993.
In the new structuring of the Foreign Trade Group,
Ramerica is operating as the US liaison office
of the Koç Group since 1999.
